Oma Rapeti, The sequel

Oma2013_300

This is a new Oma Rapeti event idea,

After two years testing the Original Oma Rapeti idea, now is time to try something a little different to refresh, and to see if this second idea is of interest…

To be tested Easter 2013 (on Good Friday, March 29th in the morning)

This follows the law of all ‘good’ action movie sequels – simplification of the basic concept, but with a ramp up of the intensity!

So, what will remain?

  • Handicapped start times based on Age and Gender
  • It is still a Point to Point. (finish is many kilometres from the start)
  • It will remain within the trails around the city, very little running on the roads
  • And Dorothy, it ain’t flat!

And, what are the changes?

  • it will be a fixed course, no “short cuts” allowed this time (there isn’t any real short cut opportunities anyhow)
  • it will be longer and tougher (note we will also have an alternative courfse that is shorter (and a little easier available)
  • Only start and finish locations will be announced before the day – you won’t find out the course until race morning (just prepare for running on the hills!)

Costs:

There is a slight cost involved this year to cover Angels expenses (and the Easter s Eggs and Bunny prizes) – This will be $20 payable on the morning to purchase the course map(s). This fee will also get you a rebate of the entry fee from the first official Oma Rapeti event schedule for later in 2013.

Registering your interest

Testing will be limited to 30 individuals, so first in first on the list to get the details

So if you are interested, let us know via email

I would suggest taking a full first aid kit and of course a camera to record the blood!

    • Angel says:

Of course, it could just be a case of paying attention to the track ahead rather that the spectacular views! (to reduce the blood flows)

  7. Josh Campbell says:

    Sounds fun, put me down

  8. Becky and Renee says:

Sounds great. Too late to be interested? I’d have to make a decision tomorrow night because I’m still getting over an injury.

Is the Easter bunny running ther course???I thought we might be chasing the Easter bunny……

    • Angel says:

Not sure about the Easter Bunny running, but there will be plenty of bunnies on course – will drop you an email with details for you to confirm if keen. (currently just a couple of spots left)

  10. Joe says:

I have obtained an official pass out so im in! If the start and finish are kms apart…..are there pubs inbetween?

    • Angel says:

There is drinks available at the top of a hill in your journey, and if you supply your own refreshments they can be transported there and consumed by the kind volunteers on your behalf while they await your arrival…
